"A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with bricks that others throw at him or her."
Thank you for wanting to find out more about interim the Courtenay way! We have provided information we hope is helpful to you in deciding whether you have the right profile for life as an HR interim professional and whether Courtenay are the best supplier to help you.
We recognise that these days there are lots of options to gain good work experience whether you are in the early stages of your career or a more seasoned professional:-
The Ltd Company Route; if you have decided that a permanent career is no longer for you, you might like to consider the Ltd Company route. Typically, you will already have acquired a solid HR background of 10 years and are an HR Manager, Business Partner or Director. You could also be a specialist at a similar level. You will operate through a Ltd Company status and invoice either the client or us for your time on a monthly basis on a daily rate. For further information on setting up as Ltd Company you might like to look at www.competex.co.uk, a specialist service exclusively for interim managers.
Freelance; if you are someone who is in the early stage of your career and you fancy working in a different industry, or you want to specialise in an area of HR for a short time but don’t want to set up as a Ltd Company we would be delighted to hear from you as we are able to put you on our payroll as an alternative.
In both Ltd Company and Freelance we handle assignments from £150 per day upwards.
Fixed Term Contract; typically our permanent team handle fixed term contract positions as they tend to be over a year in length and may be more suited to someone following a more permanent career option and the client in particular wants to employ them directly. It could be an opportunity for a client and candidate to consider temp to perm in a period of change or before a permanent position is fully available. If this is you then contact our permanent team at selection@courtenayhr.com.
Firstly, a few facts... we register all candidates who get in touch with us as it provides an audit trail of communication so when you call in we know we have dealt with you or heard from you before. This does not mean we have placed everyone who has registered with us! Often candidates are on an assignment already, they may not be geographically placed to take on an assignment, or it simply isn’t the right sort of project.
The supplier network handle about 25% of all interim assignments that means there is a massive 75% of assignments out there that are handled directly. Your chances of finding a placement through us is significantly increased if you have had proven interim assignments. Otherwise do ensure you are adequately networked to get you that first assignment!!
The majority of our requirements cover the full HR remit and typically are of a generalist nature. In addition we have demand for people with good project and change management experience. Our client requirements include:
On average our assignments tend to be anything from 3 to 9 months with the average being closer to 5.
Ltd Company: - We ask you to submit timesheets along with a monthly invoice to us to be paid the last working day of the month.
Freelance: - You are put on the payroll of our parent company (The SG Group). We pay you direct to your bank account through the payroll service against authorised timesheets.
In the main we deal with clients in London and the South East. They are across all industry sectors and are a mix of small, medium and large organisations.
If you are a known candidate to Courtenay and you just want to let us know that you are available and update us with your current assignments please submit your updated CV* to us at interim@courtenayhr.com.
If you are not yet registered with us and meet the above criteria we would be delighted to hear from you so please send your cv to interim@courtenayhr.com.
If you are interested in talking to us about the Ltd company route please make your application for the attention of Lynn Walker - and freelance to Sharon Brooke.
In both cases you will receive an initial automated response to acknowledge your application- you will get a subsequent email with our decision on next steps when we have reviewed your cv this may be to register you or invite you in for interview.
* Please send a cv no longer than 3 pages - it should ideally be skills based and reference specific achievements as well as clients you have worked for.
