Client Information

We're proud to say we're not a typical recruitment agency. True to the heritage of Courtenay, we've set out to challenge the conventions of 'traditional' firms. We don't believe that someone is right for you - or you for them - just because they have the qualifications, industry experiences or technical competency you're looking for.

But finding the right individuals to deliver the people promise is a tough call, not only because the skills demanded have changed significantly, but also because the ‘new breed’ of people practitioners that are emerging are different too. Professionals they have always been, but where once was formal now read informal; control now influence; functional now commercial.

It’s about finding the right mix and it’s what Courtenay has been exceptionally good at for over 35 years…and counting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process when securing an Interim Professional for an assignment?

Once you have identified your need for an Interim Professional and the length of assignment has been decided, we would take a detailed job specification from you. If we’ve not worked together in the past we would like to meet with you as soon as possible to understand your business needs and cultural fit. Where this is not possible, we will spend 30 minutes over the phone taking a detailed brief. We would then search our database for a suitable Interim Professional and forward you no more than two or three qualified and available CV’s.

If, for whatever reason, we are unable to find a suitable IP we will place an unbranded ad on our website and other job boards at no extra cost. We have special advertising rates for web and print with all our suppliers for branded adverts.

We believe in ‘Quality not Quantity’ and on average would send you 3 to 4 CV’s to review. We do believe that understanding your business needs and cultural fit enables us to find the right IP for you…first time.

How long does the process takes?

Well this all depends on you! We are able to forward suitable CV’s in a 24 hour turn-around, given that we have available IP’s ready to start a new assignment immediately. Our quickest response from taking the brief to a candidate physically starting which included two client interviews and our own interview took three days!!

How do Interim Professionals get paid?

Our Interim Professional will fall into two categories:

Ltd Company: - We ask our Interim Professionals in this category to submit timesheets along with a monthly invoice to us to be paid the last working day of the month, the timesheets would be approved by you, the client, and we would invoice you directly for days worked plus our fee.

Freelance: - Interim Professionals in this category are put on the payroll of our parent company (The SG Group). We pay them directly to their bank account through the payroll service against authorised timesheets approved by you. We would then invoice you directly for days worked as above.

Fixed Term Contract: typically our permanent team handle fixed term contract positions as they tend to be over a year in length and may be more suited to someone following a more permanent career option and the client in particular wants to employ them directly. It could be an opportunity for a client and candidate to consider temp to perm in a period of change or before a permanent position is fully available. If this is your requirement then please contact our permanent team at selection@courtenayhr.com.

What if the assignment needs to be extended or terminated early?

In today’s market it is difficult to predict how long you think an assignment might be. Often assignments need to be extended due to your business needs. We are in regular contact with you, the client and our IP’s during the duration of the assignment and should the assignment need to be extended it can be negotiated at least 3 weeks before the end date. Likewise, you may need to end the assignment early and we would require at least two weeks’ notice in order to notify our IP, however should there be a case of gross negligence we would notify our IP immediately of the termination of their assignment.
